National Saving Interest Rate and Description

1. NSC viii Interest rate is 7.8 % and is for duration of five years.
2. There is no maximum limit for investment.Minimum deposit is 100 Rs.
3. No TDS is applicable.
4. Issued certificate can be used for bank loans.
5. Investment upto 1.5 lakh , qualify for IT rebate under section 80 C of IT Act.
6. Trust and HUF cannot invest.
7. NSC deposit is considered for tax rebate.
8. Certificate can be purchased by Adult , minor or on behalf of minor.
9. The interest accruing annualy , which is reinvested will also qualify for deduction under 80 C IT- Act.
